BJP Trying to Tarnish Himachal’s Image by Misleading Union Ministers, Alleges Vinay Kumar

Says Sukhu Government is Fulfilling All Responsibilities with Financial Discipline; Accuses Centre of Ignoring Himachal’s Development and Disaster Relief

Shimla, July 28: Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee President Vinay Kumar has accused BJP leaders in the state of misleading Union Ministers and attempting to tarnish the image of Himachal Pradesh. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the state government is fulfilling all its responsibilities with financial discipline despite limited resources.

Vinay Kumar alleged that the Central Government has failed to extend meaningful support for the state’s development. Despite this, he said, the Congress government is ensuring the continued implementation of development projects while also providing relief to people affected by heavy rains and natural disasters.

He said that families whose houses have been completely destroyed in the recent rains are being provided ₹7.50 lakh for house construction and an additional ₹1 lakh for purchasing household essentials. He alleged that neither the Central Government nor the BJP has provided any assistance for disaster relief in the state, adding that misleading the public through false claims has become the BJP’s primary agenda.

The HPCC President also claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced ₹1,500 crore in disaster relief assistance for Himachal Pradesh in 2024, but the promised support has yet to be delivered. He further alleged that the BJP has remained silent on this issue as well as on the discontinuation of the state’s RDG support.

Vinay Kumar further stated that the previous BJP government left behind a debt burden of over ₹70,000 crore and employee liabilities exceeding ₹10,000 crore, which the present Congress government inherited.

He asserted that the BJP has no genuine issues against the Congress government and is therefore attempting to mislead the people through false propaganda. He expressed confidence that the BJP would face defeat in the next Assembly elections and that the Congress would return to power in Himachal Pradesh with a full majority.
