False Cases Against BJP Public Representatives Are an Assault on Democracy; Congress Government Misusing Police and Administration for Political Vendetta: BJP Legislature Part
Shimla, August 4:
A meeting of the BJP Legislature Party was held today at Hotel Marina, Shimla, under the chairmanship of Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. BJP Himachal Pradesh President Dr. Rajeev Bindal was specially present during the meeting. The proceedings began with a two-minute silence to pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul of Late Narayanan Ji, father of BJP State Organisation General Secretary Siddarthan.
Addressing the media after the meeting, BJP Legislature Party Secretary and MLA Randhir Sharma said that the meeting extensively discussed the prevailing political situation in Himachal Pradesh, the functioning of the Congress government, and the party’s strategy for the upcoming Monsoon Session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly beginning on August 21.
He said the Legislature Party strongly condemned the Congress government for repeatedly registering false cases against BJP MLAs, former legislators, Zila Parishad members, Panchayat representatives, elected representatives of Urban Local Bodies and other public representatives. He alleged that the government was misusing the police, administration and various government agencies to target political opponents, calling it a direct attack on democratic values and an attempt to silence the Opposition through vendetta politics.
Randhir Sharma announced that in protest against these actions, the BJP Legislature Party will hold a massive protest and march on August 5 at 10:00 AM, beginning from CTO Chowk, Shimla, under the leadership of Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur and State BJP President Dr. Rajeev Bindal. All BJP MLAs and senior party leaders will participate. He said the movement would not remain confined to Shimla but would be expanded across the state to expose the Congress government’s politics of revenge.
He further stated that during the upcoming Monsoon Session, BJP would strongly raise several issues concerning the people of Himachal Pradesh. These include the poor condition of roads, landslides, disruption in electricity and drinking water supply, and the government’s inadequate preparedness for the monsoon. BJP legislators will present detailed reports of the damage in their respective constituencies and demand accountability from the government.
He also pointed out that many families affected by the 2025 natural disaster are yet to be rehabilitated and a large part of the damaged infrastructure has not been reconstructed. BJP will expose the government’s failure in providing timely relief and rehabilitation.
Randhir Sharma alleged that law and order in the state has completely deteriorated. Incidents of broad daylight shootings, axe attacks, murders, rapes, thefts, robberies and the alarming rise of the drug menace clearly reflect the government’s failure. He further alleged that major drug traffickers are flourishing under government patronage while the youth of the state are being pushed towards addiction. BJP, he said, will demand answers from the government on all these issues.
He further alleged that corruption has spread from the Chief Minister’s Office to the grassroots level, including revenue offices. BJP will raise documented cases of corruption in various departments during the Assembly session. The party will also highlight pending dues of government employees, delayed pensions and retirement benefits, the Congress government’s failure to fulfil its promise of providing one lakh government jobs annually, and its failure to honour other electoral guarantees.
Randhir Sharma said the Congress government has failed on every front of governance. Several development projects initiated during the previous BJP government have either been stalled or abandoned. Departments lack funds even for road repairs, public transport is suffering, and ministers themselves appear helpless in addressing public issues. He alleged that the state is being run not by the Cabinet but by a “coterie of favourites,” while public welfare is being ignored and unnecessary expenditure is being encouraged.
Reacting to the Chief Minister’s recent statements, he said the results of the Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Body elections clearly indicate that the people have lost faith in the Congress government. According to him, the Chief Minister’s statements reflect political frustration, and BJP is confident that the people will decisively reject the Congress government in the next Assembly elections.
Randhir Sharma also alleged that BJP leaders and MLAs are being placed under constant surveillance, their phones are being tapped, and the police and administration are being used to gather information about party meetings. He termed such actions undemocratic and said BJP strongly condemns this style of politics and will continue its struggle to safeguard democratic rights.

Thakur, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Randhir Sharma, Trilok Jamwal, Surender Shourie, Dilip Thakur, Janak Raj, Puran Chand, Deep Raj, J.R. Katwal, Ranveer Singh and Reena Kashyap, along with other members of the BJP Legislature Party.
