Waknaghat: Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT) organised an Alumni Talk on September 18, 2026, featuring Saral Nigam, a CSE alumnus of the 2016 batch and currently serving as Senior Product Manager at Microsoft. He has previously worked with organisations including Amazon and HashedIn.
Held on Engineers’ Day and in the presence of the Vice Chancellor, the session at the Digital Learning Centre (DLC) witnessed enthusiastic participation from students. Saral shared insights from his professional journey and emphasised that a career is not a sprint towards a designation, but a gradual process of building skills, curiosity and self-belief.
He presented a year-wise roadmap for engineering students. He advised first-year students to focus on programming language proficiency and Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA), while the second year should be dedicated to building real-world projects and developing Git discipline. The third year should focus on internships and specialisation, followed by deeper expertise in a chosen flagship domain during the fourth year.
Saral also encouraged students to follow the “one DSA problem a day” approach and stressed responsible use of AI tools through the progression “Use → Build → Understand → Own.” He highlighted debugging, shipping projects and effective use of AI tools as essential skills for aspiring engineers.
He further explained the Big Tech hiring process, covering shortlisting, screening, technical and behavioural rounds. The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer interaction, allowing students to seek practical guidance on their career and professional growth.
