Baijnath (Kangra): The 10-day ‘Shiv Bagh Cha Raja’ Ganesh Festival, organised by Ganesh Yuva Mandal, Baijnath, is attracting devotees with its grand celebrations, religious programmes and cultural events. The festival, now in its 16th year, has become a symbol of faith, community participation and youth involvement in the region.
The celebration began 16 years ago with a small group of youngsters installing Lord Ganesha’s idol in a school room with limited resources. With continued support from local residents and the business community, the initiative has grown into one of Baijnath’s prominent religious celebrations.
The magnificent idol of Lord Ganesha, brought specially from Mumbai, is a major attraction for devotees. Religious tableaux prepared by renowned artist Ramu Rajasthani further add to the appeal of the festival. Bhajans, religious programmes and cultural evenings are being organised throughout the 10-day celebration.
The organisers have acknowledged the valuable support of local traders, shopkeepers, residents and numerous anonymous volunteers who contribute selflessly behind the scenes.
Under the leadership of Ganesh Yuva Mandal president Rajesh Sharma, a dedicated team of volunteers is looking after the arrangements and facilities for devotees.
The organising committee has invited people from Baijnath and surrounding areas to visit the festival and seek the blessings of ‘Shiv Bagh Cha Raja’.
