Governor Kavinder Gupta to be Chief Guest at National Institute of Technology Hamirpur on September 1
Hamirpur, August 31, 2026:
‘Ek Se Shreshth’, an initiative dedicated to providing quality education and holistic development opportunities to children in rural areas, has achieved a significant milestone by expanding to 650 centres during its five-year journey.
To mark this achievement, a grand programme highlighting the accomplishments of the campaign over the past five years will be organised at the National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur, at 2:00 PM on September 1, 2026. Governor of Himachal Pradesh Kavinder Gupta will attend the programme as the Chief Guest, while former Union Minister and Member of Parliament Anurag Singh Thakur will participate as the Guest of Honour.
The ‘Ek Se Shreshth’ campaign was launched on October 5, 2021, with the objective of providing free after-school education to children between the ages of 7 and 12 in rural areas. Today, through its 650 centres, the initiative is reaching thousands of children and providing opportunities for education, values-based learning and holistic development.
Apart from regular studies, children at these centres are also introduced to basic literacy, health and hygiene, general knowledge, cultural values and moral education. Study material is provided to the students, while teachers have also been equipped with laptops to promote digital learning. Activities such as painting, yoga, mathematics and other co-curricular competitions are organised to nurture creativity, confidence, discipline and a healthy competitive spirit among children.
The campaign, being carried forward under the guidance of former Union Minister and MP Anurag Singh Thakur, is being implemented with the significant support of the Act to Transform Foundation. Besides taking educational opportunities to villages and panchayat-level communities, the initiative has also created employment opportunities at the local level.
Having grown from 120 centres to 650 centres, the ‘Ek Se Shreshth’ campaign has emerged as a major community-driven initiative in the field of rural education. The program at the National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur, will mark an important milestone in celebrating the campaign’s achievements over the past five years and charting its journey ahead.
