Shimla: An all-party meeting was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted conduct of the Monsoon Session. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harsh Vardhan Chauhan, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur and Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania were present at the meeting.
The Speaker appealed to members from both the ruling and opposition sides to maintain the dignity of the House and cooperate in holding meaningful discussions on issues concerning the public. He said that while the Opposition should question the government within the framework of the rules, it was equally the responsibility of the government to provide clear and accurate answers to the questions raised by opposition members.
Pathania said that the productivity of the 14th Legislative Assembly, prior to the Monsoon Session, had remained between 90 and 132 per cent on average, which is among the highest in the country. He expressed hope that with the cooperation of all members, this tradition would continue in the future as well. He said there would be no shortage of time for discussions on matters of public interest.
During the meeting, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur raised certain issues related to Zero Hour. The Speaker asked the Parliamentary Affairs Minister to take these matters seriously. Leaders from both sides assured their full cooperation for the smooth and orderly conduct of the House.
