Backdoor Recruitment in Himachal Board of School Education Favours Jubbal-Kotkhai Candidates, Gross Injustice to the State’s Youth: Vinod Kumar

Were Qualified Candidates Available Only in the Education Minister’s Constituency? High-Level Probe into the Recruitment Must Be Ordered: Vinod Kumar
Shimla: BJP State Vice President and MLA Vinod Kumar has levelled serious allegations against the Congress government over the alleged backdoor recruitment in the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE), saying that the recruitment process has betrayed the aspirations of thousands of educated unemployed youth in the state.
He said that before coming to power, the Congress had promised five lakh jobs, including one lakh government jobs in the first year, but instead of ensuring transparent recruitment, the government has promoted favouritism and backdoor appointments.
Vinod Kumar alleged that the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education in Dharamshala filled eight outsourced positions—four Data Entry Operators and four Peons—without issuing any public advertisement or inviting applications from eligible candidates. According to him, the entire recruitment process was carried out without transparency.
He further alleged that all eight selected candidates belong to the Education Minister’s Assembly constituency, Jubbal-Kotkhai. Raising serious questions over the fairness of the recruitment, he asked, “Were qualified candidates available only in Jubbal-Kotkhai? Were no deserving unemployed youth from Shimla, Kangra, Mandi, Kullu, Chamba, Solan, Sirmaur, Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur, Kinnaur or Lahaul-Spiti eligible for these posts?”
He said the pattern of recruitment indicates blatant favouritism and has severely undermined the confidence of educated youth in the state’s recruitment system. He also alleged that the recruitment was carried out through the connivance of the Board administration and the outsourcing agency by bypassing established procedures.
Vinod Kumar demanded that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu order a high-level, impartial inquiry into the entire recruitment process, cancel the appointments if irregularities are found, and ensure that the vacancies are filled through a transparent and merit-based selection process.
He further stated that instead of creating fair employment opportunities across Himachal Pradesh, the Congress government is allegedly limiting opportunities to the constituencies of its own ministers. He asserted that the unemployed youth of the state are closely watching these developments and will hold the government accountable democratically.
