BJP to Organise Four Major Padyatras Across Himachal Under ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ Campaign; Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to Lead Shimla March on November 1

Shimla, October 28, 2026:
BJP Himachal Pradesh President Dr. Rajeev Bindal launched a sharp attack on the Congress and the INDI Alliance during a press conference, alleging that the opposition, under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, was attempting to create an atmosphere of political instability and anarchy in the country.
Dr. Bindal alleged that after repeatedly facing rejection by voters, Congress was seeking to create Bangladesh-like conditions in India to bring about a change of government through unconstitutional means.
He said India is a democratic nation governed by its Constitution, where governments are formed and changed through established constitutional processes. He accused Congress of repeatedly undermining constitutional principles while publicly projecting itself as their defender.
Referring to the history of Congress, Dr. Bindal cited the earlier special constitutional arrangements in Jammu and Kashmir, the dismissal of elected state governments and the Emergency imposed in 1975. He said the Emergency witnessed severe restrictions on civil liberties and major constitutional amendments.
He further alleged that Congress had contributed to political instability at various stages by withdrawing support from non-Congress governments and undermining democratic mandates.
Dr. Bindal accused Rahul Gandhi and the INDI Alliance of repeatedly questioning constitutional institutions and attempting to weaken public confidence in democratic processes.
He said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India had strengthened its position economically, strategically and internationally. He alleged that Congress, frustrated by its electoral setbacks, was pursuing a politics of confrontation rather than constructive opposition.
Raising the issue of illegal infiltration, Dr. Bindal alleged that Congress and its allies were protecting illegal infiltrators for electoral gains. He claimed that such vote-bank politics threatened the rights of legitimate Indian citizens.
He emphasised that electoral rolls must remain accurate and that the democratic rights of every eligible Indian citizen should be protected.
Announcing a statewide public awareness campaign, Dr. Bindal said the BJP would organise four major Padyatras under the banner ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ across Himachal Pradesh.
The first Padyatra will take place in Dharamshala on October 30, under the leadership of MP Dr. Rajeev Bhardwaj and former Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Vipin Singh Parmar.
The second Padyatra will be held in Shimla on November 1, beginning from the Old Bus Stand and proceeding to Chaura Maidan. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will participate alongside Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, MP Anurag Singh Thakur, MP Suresh Kashyap and other senior BJP leaders. BJP State Vice-President Bittu Verma will serve as the programme convenor.
On November 4, a Padyatra will be organised in Mandi, led by former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, with former Minister Suresh Bhardwaj serving as the convenor.
Another Padyatra will be held in Hamirpur on November 4, under Dr. Rajeev Bindal’s leadership. MP Anurag Singh Thakur, senior BJP leader Satpal Singh Satti and other party leaders will participate, while Randhir Sharma will serve as the programme convenor.
Dr. Bindal said these marches were intended to raise public awareness about constitutional values, democratic institutions and what he described as the Congress party’s attempts to promote political instability.
He also condemned Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge over his alleged objectionable remarks concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that such language reflected a decline in political discourse.
Dr. Bindal reiterated that the BJP would continue its campaign to defend constitutional democracy, uphold national unity and raise public awareness against what he described as attempts to create anarchy and undermine democratic institutions.
