Govt. focusing on strengthening and modernizing healthcare services in state: Health Minister

     Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil chaired the 7th Board of Director’s meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Medical Services Corporation Limited (HPMSCL) here today. He said that the state government was working with an objective of strengthening and modernizing the health sector and ensuring that people of the state gets advanced and quality healthcare at their doorstep.

He said that HPMSCL plays an important role in purchasing and distributing medicines, medical equipment, surgical items and other supplies for government hospitals and medical colleges.

The Minister appreciated the efforts of HPMSCL in making the procurement process faster and more efficient. He said the new system had ended the earlier lengthy, time-consuming and costly process.

He said the government was replacing old machines and equipment, some of which were 15 to 20 years old, with modern equipment in a phased manner and HPMSCL was playing an important role in this process. He said that the state government was spending around Rs. 3,000 crore to improve healthcare facilities and provide advanced medical equipment.

The meeting also discussed ways to strengthen diagnostic services. It focused on speeding up the purchase and installation of advanced machines and medicines. These included PET scan machines, colour Doppler machines, digital X-ray and mammography machines, laparoscopic surgery equipment, DSA machines, blood separators, advanced echocardiography machines, ECG machines and cath lab equipment.

The Minister directed the officers to speed up the procurement process. He also stressed that the process must remain transparent and reliable.

Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil said these steps would improve healthcare facilities in the state. They would also help provide better and faster medical services to the people.

Secretary Health Ashish Singhmar, Special Secretary (Finance) Vijay Wardhan, Managing Director of the HPMSCL Ajay Kumar Yadav, Director Health Services Dr. Gopal Beri and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
