Himachal School Education Board Turned into a Political Reception Centre for Congress, Students’ Future at Stake: Rakesh Jamwal

Shimla: BJP Himachal Pradesh Chief Spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal has raised serious questions over the functioning of the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education, alleging that the Congress government has turned even constitutional and educational institutions into centres of political activity. He said the priorities of Board Chairman Rajesh Sharma are under serious scrutiny, as thousands of students are still waiting for their original Detailed Marks Certificates (DMCs) and marksheets nearly two months after the declaration of examination results, while the Board administration appears busy hosting political leaders.
Jamwal said that during the recent visit of senior Congress leader and Himachal Pradesh in-charge Rajni Patil to the Board office, employees were made to stand in line to welcome her. He questioned whether the Board’s responsibility is to receive political dignitaries or to safeguard the future of students. If the Board has time for political engagements, why is it unable to ensure the timely issuance of students’ original academic documents?
He said that nearly two months have passed since the Board declared the examination results, yet a large number of students have not received their original DMCs and marksheets. Many students have already completed college counselling and admission formalities, where they are now being asked to submit their original documents. The delay has forced students and parents to make repeated visits to schools and Board offices, adversely affecting their academic future.
Jamwal demanded that if there is any technical or administrative issue in the printing or distribution of DMCs, the Board should immediately make the reasons public and announce a clear timeline for issuing the original documents. He said transparency and accountability are the hallmarks of any constitutional institution.
He further stated that the School Education Board is not an office of any political party but a vital educational institution responsible for the future of lakhs of students. The Board Chairman, he said, should give priority to resolving students’ issues rather than extending hospitality to political leaders. The BJP has demanded that the Board administration immediately complete the distribution of DMCs, disclose the reasons for the delay, and place students’ interests above all else. A student’s academic year and future, he added, are far more important than any political programme.
