Congress Government Has Betrayed Himachal’s Youth; It Promised Regular Recruitment but Snatched Away Their Future: BJP
Shimla: BJP Himachal Pradesh Spokesperson Sandipani Bhardwaj strongly condemned the statement made by Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi against the BJP’s senior leadership, stating that the Minister has lost both his political balance and credibility. She said that Jagat Singh Negi no longer commands respect even within his own party. His frustration over the appointment of a District Congress President against his wishes is now being vented through irresponsible and baseless attacks on the BJP’s national leadership.
She said that instead of making derogatory remarks against BJP leaders, Jagat Singh Negi should first answer the people of Himachal on the Congress government’s failures in providing employment and ensuring transparency in recruitment.
Sandipani Bhardwaj said that the Congress came to power by promising large-scale regular recruitment and employment opportunities for the youth. However, after more than two and a half years in office, the government has failed to fulfil those promises. Instead, it shut down the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission by citing alleged irregularities, but has failed to make the findings of its investigation public. If serious irregularities had indeed taken place, why has the government not released a white paper identifying those responsible?
She said that during the previous BJP government, nearly 700 recruitment cases had reached the final stage and thousands of deserving candidates were waiting for appointment letters. The Congress government stalled these recruitments, depriving eligible youth of employment and shattering their aspirations.
The BJP spokesperson further alleged that while the Congress claims to oppose irregular recruitment, it has created a new system of backdoor appointments to benefit its favourites, relatives and party workers. Several instances have surfaced where individuals close to ministers and Congress leaders have allegedly secured government positions, while deserving youth continue to remain unemployed. She said this is the so-called “system change” that the Congress had promised before the elections.
She also accused the government of misusing the outsourcing recruitment process. While the Congress had promised to end outsourcing and provide regular jobs, it has instead introduced new restrictions under the guise of financial approvals, creating a mechanism that allegedly allows political influence in recruitment decisions. This, she said, is completely against the principles of transparency and merit.
Sandipani Bhardwaj said it is ironic that the Congress questions the Central Government over examination issues while it has failed to conclude or disclose the findings of the investigation into the Himachal recruitment controversy. In contrast, the Central Government acted swiftly by ordering a CBI probe into paper leak cases, arresting the accused, conducting re-examinations and announcing fast-track courts to ensure speedy justice.
She further stated that India is governed through democracy and constitutional institutions, not through chaos and street politics. Issues concerning students and youth should be debated in Parliament rather than exploited for political gain. Instead of diverting attention with provocative statements, the Congress government should answer the people of Himachal on pending recruitment investigations, regular government jobs and allegations of backdoor appointments.
Concluding her statement, Sandipani Bhardwaj said that the Bharatiya Janata Party will continue to raise the voice of Himachal’s youth and expose the Congress government’s failure to deliver on its promises. She urged the state government to stop political rhetoric, ensure transparent recruitment, complete pending appointments and fulfil the commitments it made to the unemployed youth of Himachal Pradesh.
