Santoshgarh (Una), August 2: The National Kalash Yatra being organised to commemorate the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj received a grand welcome in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday at the historic Shri Guru Ravidas Temple in Santoshgarh. The yatra, which began from Guru Ravidas Ji’s birthplace in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, will now travel across various districts of the state.
Addressing the gathering, Member of Parliament and former Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said that Guru Ravidas Ji’s life symbolises social harmony, equality and selfless service to humanity. He said the National Kalash Yatra is not merely a religious event but a nationwide campaign promoting unity, brotherhood and social cohesion.
Rajya Sabha MP and State Convener of the campaign Dr. Sikander Kumar said the sacred Kalash Yatra would reach every district of Himachal Pradesh to spread Guru Ravidas Ji’s message of equality, social harmony and human service.
MLA Satpal Singh Satti also described Guru Ravidas Ji’s ideals as a lasting source of inspiration for society. A large number of BJP leaders and workers, members of the saint community, representatives of Shri Guru Ravidas Sabha and devotees participated in the programme. After the ceremonial installation of the sacred Kalash at the temple, devotees offered prayers, and an Akhand Langar (community meal) was served to all.
