Anurag Thakur Inspires Graduates, Calls on Youth to Embrace Struggle and Build a Viksit Bharat; Build Your Own Brand and Step Out of Your Comfort Zone
Hamirpur/Indore, September 5, 2026: Former Union Minister and Member of Parliament from Hamirpur Anurag Singh Thakur today addressed the joint Convocation Ceremony of graduates and post-graduates of the Indore Institute of Law and the Idyllic Institute of Management.
Addressing students, parents and faculty members, Anurag Thakur appreciated the unique academic environment in which institutions of law and management function on the same campus. He described it as an excellent example of the convergence of disciplines and the exchange of ideas.
Congratulating the students on their hard work and achievements, he said that a convocation is not merely about receiving a degree, but marks the beginning of a new phase of life filled with greater responsibilities and challenges. He said that the knowledge acquired in classrooms would now have to be applied in courtrooms, boardrooms and across various spheres of society.
In his inspiring address, Anurag Thakur urged the youth to embrace struggle and challenges as an integral part of success. Drawing inspiration from the lives and struggles of Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the scientists of ISRO, he said that extraordinary achievements are born out of perseverance and the courage to overcome difficult circumstances.
He urged the graduates to step out of their comfort zones and build their own independent identity. He said that young people should not rely solely on family businesses, shortcuts or inherited identities, but should create their own brand value through hard work, talent, integrity and innovation.
Citing examples of young Indian innovators, ranging from a self-taught product designer in Indore to the creators of India’s first privately built orbital rocket, Anurag Thakur encouraged students to become ethical risk-takers, innovators and job creators.
Looking towards the future, Anurag Thakur said that the next 21 years would be crucial for the nation and that the youth have a monumental responsibility in building a Viksit Bharat. He said that the young generation would play the most important role in realising the vision of a developed India by 2047.
Highlighting recent legal reforms, he said that the colonial-era Indian Penal Code has been replaced by the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita with the objective of making the justice delivery system more transparent, timely and effective. He added that these reforms would also further strengthen the safety and security of women.
Anurag Thakur also highlighted the rapid growth of India’s startup ecosystem, stating that the country had around 500 startups in 2014, while the number has now grown to over 2.23 lakh. He called upon the new law and management graduates to use their knowledge and capabilities to elevate their families, society and the nation.
Earlier, while interacting with the media outside the Indore airport, Anurag Thakur said that every state has an important role to play in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. He said that the youth of Madhya Pradesh are determined to transform the state into a Viksit Madhya Pradesh.
He said that university convocation ceremonies are not merely occasions for awarding degrees, but important opportunities to guide young minds and inspire them to contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
Anurag Thakur appreciated the widespread public participation in the nationwide Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative. He also commended Kailash Vijayvargiya for leading an impactful plantation drive in Indore. He said that Indore’s rapid emergence as an IT and industrial hub, along with the growing passenger movement driven by pilgrimage to Mahakaleshwar, reflects the pace of progress and development in Madhya Pradesh.
Launching a sharp attack on the Congress leadership, Anurag Thakur said that the youth of the country would take Rahul Gandhi seriously only when he gives up appeasement politics, stops making disparaging remarks about Sanatan Dharma and refrains from insulting the nation.
Accusing the Gandhi family of failing to show due respect to the Constitution and national symbols, he questioned why Rahul Gandhi and the Gandhi family could not spare three minutes and ten seconds at their party events to honour and sing the complete National Song Vande Mataram. He asked whether the Gandhi family considers itself above the Constitution.
