Centre Sanctions ₹290 Crore for Chaila–Sainj–Yashwantnagar–Rajgarh Road Upgradation: Vikramaditya Singh

Shimla, July 31: Himachal Pradesh PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Friday said the Centre has sanctioned nearly ₹290 crore for the upgradation of the Chaila–Sainj–Yashwantnagar–Rajgarh road following continuous efforts and coordination with the Union Government.
He said the road is a vital link for apple growers and horticulturists of Kotkhai, Jubbal, Rohru and adjoining areas, as a major share of horticultural produce is transported through this route. The department has been directed to complete all formalities and initiate the tendering process so that construction can begin soon after the monsoon.
The minister thanked the Union Government for approving the project and acknowledged the support of Education Minister Rohit Thakur, MLA Kuldeep Singh Rathore and other public representatives in pursuing the proposal.
He also announced that around ₹60 crore has been sanctioned for the Biradari road project, while another ₹50 crore has been approved for the construction of a previously excluded 16-km road stretch.
On the monsoon situation, Vikramaditya Singh said the state government is working on a war footing to restore road connectivity and ensure that farmers and orchardists can transport their produce without disruption. He said 129 departmental JCBs, 270 hired machines, and nearly 560 machines in total have been deployed across the state for road restoration. An online dashboard is monitoring road closures, and officials have been directed to restore blocked roads within 24 hours wherever feasible.
